Terms of Service
Effective date: May 5, 2026 Last updated: May 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MoMo ("MoMo," "we," "us," or "our"), a chat-based personal-finance tracker.
About MoMo. MoMo is a free, non-commercial hobby project built and operated by an individual in Colombia and shared with friends, family, and anyone they decide to invite. There is no company behind it, no paid plan, no advertising, and no commercial intent. You should treat the Service as you would a personal tool you are letting a friend borrow — useful, but provided in good faith and without any warranty.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Contact: Juan Ospina, juan.ospina.quintero@gmail.com.
1. The Service
MoMo lets you log expenses by typing chat messages, automatically parses those messages into structured expense entries, and gives you visual analytics over your spending. You may use MoMo in personal scope (visible only to you) or in a household scope shared with up to four other people you invite. The Service is currently provided free of charge and on an as-is basis (see Section 11).
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old if you reside in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom) to use MoMo. Minors in Colombia must have authorization from a parent or legal guardian, in line with Colombian Law 1581 of 2012.
If you use MoMo on behalf of someone else, you represent that you have authority to do so.
3. Accounts
3.1 Sign-in
MoMo uses Google OAuth as its sole sign-in method. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure. We are not responsible for losses arising from unauthorized access to your Google account.
3.2 Account information
You agree that the information associated with your account is accurate, that you will keep it up to date, and that you will not impersonate another person or create accounts you are not authorized to create.
3.3 One household per user
The Service technically enforces a one-household-per-user limit and a maximum of five members per household. You agree not to attempt to circumvent these limits.
4. Your content
4.1 Definition
"Your Content" means the chat messages, expense entries, household names, profile information, and any other material you submit to or generate through MoMo.
4.2 Ownership
You retain all rights in Your Content. MoMo claims no ownership.
4.3 License to operate the Service
You grant MoMo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you and your household members. This license ends when you delete the relevant content or close your account, except for residual copies in routine backups (see the Privacy Policy) and content that other household members continue to rely on (see Section 4.5).
4.4 No training of third-party AI
We do not share Your Content with third-party providers for the purpose of training their models, and we do not currently use any third-party large-language-model service for parsing or categorization. If we ever introduce such a feature, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy and provide an opt-out where required by law.
4.5 Household-scoped content
When you record an expense in a household, your household members can see it. If you leave a household or close your account, the household-scoped records you created may remain visible to remaining members so the household's spending history stays intact. On request, we will disassociate your name from those records (see Privacy Policy Section 9.3).
4.6 Acceptable content
You agree not to submit Content that is:
- unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or invasive of another's privacy;
- infringing or misappropriating intellectual property, trade secrets, or publicity rights;
- malicious code, viruses, or anything intended to disrupt the Service;
- false information designed to commit fraud or financial crime; or
- something you have no right to share (for example, payment-card numbers, government-issued IDs, or sensitive personal information about other people).
We are not obligated to monitor Your Content, but we may remove or refuse to display Content that violates these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- access the Service through automated means (scraping, bots, headless scripts) other than ordinary browser/app use, except as expressly permitted by us;
- attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or bypass any security mechanism, except through coordinated disclosure with us;
- send unsolicited messaging through the Service or use it to spam any other user; or
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law, including export and sanctions laws.
6. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. Intellectual property
7.1 Our IP
MoMo and the Service (excluding Your Content), including the underlying software, design, and any associated names or logos, are owned by the Operator or his licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
7.2 Feedback
If you send us suggestions or feedback about the Service, you grant the Operator a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
7.3 Open-source components
The Service uses open-source components subject to their own licenses. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licenses.
8. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party platforms — most notably Google (authentication), Supabase (database, real-time) and Vercel (hosting). Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
9. No warranty of availability
MoMo is a hobby project. We will use reasonable efforts to keep the Service available, but we do not commit to any specific uptime, response time, or feature roadmap. The Service may be paused, taken offline, or shut down at any time. Where reasonable, we will give advance notice before a permanent shutdown so you can export your data.
10. Termination
10.1 By you
You may stop using the Service at any time. To request account deletion, email juan.ospina.quintero@gmail.com from the email associated with your account. Self-serve account deletion in the app is on our roadmap but not yet available.
10.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, used the Service unlawfully, or created risk for other users or for the Operator. Where reasonable, we will notify you first.
10.3 Effect of termination
When your account is terminated, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including 4 (Your content), 7 (IP), 11 (Disclaimers), 12 (Limitation of liability), 13 (Indemnification), 15 (Governing law and disputes), and 16 (Miscellaneous) — will continue to apply.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
MoMo is not a financial, accounting, banking, investment, or tax service. The categorization, totals, and analytics shown by the Service are estimates intended to help you reflect on your spending. They are not financial advice and must not be relied on for tax, accounting, regulatory, legal, or other consequential decisions. You are solely responsible for verifying any figures you rely on.
You acknowledge that MoMo is operated as a free personal project by a single individual, that it may contain bugs or data-loss issues, and that you accept those risks by using it. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, SAVINGS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF THE OPERATOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE AS A PERSONAL HOBBY PROJECT, THE OPERATOR'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO USD 50 OR THE EQUIVALENT IN COLOMBIAN PESOS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the disclaimers and limitations above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including, in Colombia, liability under the consumer-protection regime where it applies).
13. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Operator from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or Your Content.
14. Modifications to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
15. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
To the extent permitted by law, you and the Operator agree that any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Bogotá, D.C., Colombia, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to sue in your local courts or under your local law, nothing in this section overrides those rights.
16. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
- No waiver. The Operator's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of his right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. The Operator may assign these Terms in connection with a transfer of the Service to another person or entity, on prior notice to you.
- Force majeure. The Operator is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond his reasonable control.
- Notices. We may give notice through the Service or to the email address associated with your account. You should give notice to us at juan.ospina.quintero@gmail.com.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. If a translated version is provided for convenience, the English version will prevail in case of conflict.
